THE SKIING

Three areas, each large enough for a separate holiday, yet all easily accessible from our hotels. The area where skiing history was made, still the sight of one of the great down hill races, the Lauberhorn.

Wide smooth long cruising from the Kline Scheidegg to Grund, ski down and into the pretty village of Wengen or test yourself James Bond style off the Schilthorn with over 7,000 ft of descent at your disposal. The Murren area may seem modest, but has some really tough skiing off the Schillgrat (new chairlift this year) or the Kanonenrohr.

.

The Jungfrau region, one of the world's most scenic ski areas.
Lauterbrunnen is the central location
for easy access to ski the world famous resorts of Wengen, Murren, Grindelwald and First at a price much less than the big names.

SKI FACTS

Skiing area: 200km

Resort Height: 796m

Top lift: 2971m

Snow cannon: Extensive coverage

Ski areas: Wengen. Murren, First, Grindelwald.

Ski the First area and look across at one of the best back drops in the world, The Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. First is worth visiting for the skiing. The Stepfi run goes on for ever. Over six new lifts have recently been opened and the snow making on the Downhill have brought the area to top international quality.

You are in for a big surprise if you go down to the wooden mountain restaurants, just compare portions, quality and prices with other big named resorts. A party equivalent in our Hotel Silberhorn is now cheaper than London!

OFF PISTE

Either of the two faces of the Schilthorn without the lift, are hard and sufficiently scarey, do take a guide it is great skiing. Beyond the Eigergletcher uder the Eiger is fabulous with Spring snow and not scarey. Buy the book showing all the runs, its got some great ideas in it.

THE VILLAGE

Lauterbrunnen certainly is not the spot for heavy night life. However simply catch the short train journey to Wengen, its all free on your lift ticket and you can have a great evening, though do make sure you get the last one down at 11.30 p.m. Wengen has got a good selection of shops, as it does have a year round resident population, it has a club and number of excellent bars that seem to be fully approved by the local residents.
